The full guide

How Quillin’ actually works.

Three things live behind the quill: a check that fixes and rewrites what you typed, a translator that runs both directions, and a settings panel where you wire it all up. Here's each one, start to finish.

Check, fix, and rewrite what you typed.

Click the quill inside a text box, or highlight your words and right-click to "I be Quillin’ this." Either way, Quillin’ reads what you wrote, cleans up the spelling and grammar, and hands it back rewritten in every style you keep on hand, all at once.

What comes back
A
Spelling & grammar fixes.

Each correction is called out on its own, so you can see what changed and why before you accept it.

B
A rewrite in every saved style.

Your five go-to voices show up side by side, from buttoned-up professional to complete nonsense. Pick the one that fits.

C
One tap to use it.

Hit Use this and the rewrite drops straight back into the box you were typing in. No copy, no paste.

Not quite right? Nudge it.

Like a rewrite but want it sharper? Tell Quillin’ in plain words and it revises on the spot, then you can keep nudging until it reads the way you want.

House rules apply to every check.

Standing instructions are the rules you never want to repeat. Set them in settings and they quietly shape every rewrite and fix from then on, no reminding required.

Translate what came in, and what you send out.

If a site doesn't already translate for you, Quillin’ does. It works the same simple way in both directions: from a language you don't read, or into one you don't speak.

Read what someone wrote.

Highlight the text, right-click, and choose translate. Quillin’ tells you which language it was and gives you a clean translation into yours. No guessing, no pasting into another tab.

Send it in their language.

Write in your own words and send it out in any language on your list, or a custom one you set up in settings. Want it to land more pirate, unhinged, or chaotic? Give the translation a tone on the way out. What they do with that is their problem.

"Mi servono cinque minuti, arrr. Basta interrompere!"

Languages you reach for often can be pinned so they're always one click away. Not on the list at all? Add it in settings and it shows up everywhere translate does.

Set it up once in settings.

Open the popup from your toolbar to reach settings. You won't live here, but it's where every choice gets made: which AI runs the show, what styles you keep close, and the rules that follow you everywhere.

Pick your model.

Choose from Claude, GPT, Gemini, Grok, Mistral, Groq, or a local model through Ollama. Whatever you pick here is what every rewrite, check, and translation uses, and the popup remembers it.

Add your API keys.

Paste a key for each provider you use. Keys stay in your browser's local storage and go straight to the provider when you run a check. There's no Quillin’ server in the middle.

Keep five rewrite styles.

Sixteen tones ship built in and you can write your own. Pin the five you reach for daily and drag to reorder. Those are the ones that appear, one click away, on every check.

Write your standing instructions.

The house rules that apply to everything: reading level, spelling, what to avoid. Set them here and never repeat yourself.

Manage your languages.

Pin the languages you translate to and from most, and add custom ones that aren't on the default list so they show up wherever translate does.
